When shelter-in-place started in California and around the U.S., many parents found themselves unexpectedly taking on a new role as part-time educators. “I saw the burden [shelter-in-place] put on our daughter and son-in-law trying to homeschool our 7-year-old granddaughter Poppy,” said Pat McClellan, founder of AppExchange partner Proton 7 Group. “I offered to help out by reading to Poppy on Zoom every day. I knew some other parents who might also need help, so I started the book club.”

Beginning with five kids — who all happen to have a parent or grandparent in the Salesforce Community — the Li’l Trailblazer Book Club has grown to about a dozen participants, ranging in age from 7 to 12, from Florida, Tennessee, Texas, Arizona, and California.
