In the midst of the world coming together to fight this global pandemic, our hearts go out to everyone impacted in communities around the world. I recently read an article in BBC News, “Coronavirus: Creativity, kindness and canals offer hope amid outbreak” and thought about how to maintain a sense of positivity during this difficult time. There is power in giving back and volunteering, to help individuals, groups and organizations, not only in our local communities but in supporting disadvantaged and vulnerable communities around the world.
I was inspired to think more deeply about this after a trip early in the year to Kigali, Rwanda. Our group of 12 volunteers spent nine days with the Karibu Centre, using social enterprise to support communities and programs throughout Kenya and Rwanda.
