“We know we’re going to be busy.”
As COVID-19 swept across the U.S., hand sanitizer flew off store shelves amid growing concerns and urgent recommendations by health officials to increase handwashing frequency. Ohio-based GOJO Industries, who invented PURELL Hand Sanitizer in 1988, suddenly had to deal with an incredible surge of demand in both products and field workforce.
Lenny Cumberledge, GOJO’s Field Service Director responsible for PURELL-brand hand sanitizer dispenser installations, needed to re-evaluate how his organization worked fundamentally. “There’s going to be new laws and recommendations outside of just healthcare,” Cumberledge said, “including nursing homes, schools, and food service organizations that are all going to have different hand hygiene requirements, which will be a huge demand for us.”
