In the third edition of Salesforce’s Connected Student Report, 47% of students reported that ‘future career prospects’ was a top factor when selecting their institution. Yet, only 11% of students surveyed reported feeling well prepared for the future of work. These data tell us there are important unmet needs for university students when it comes to connecting them to careers and that improving career services could have big implications for enrollment. Okay, but how might we improve career services?
In September, I attended Salesforce’s annual conference, Dreamforce, and being there in person was just as informative, overwhelming, and exciting as I remembered it. One of my favorite sessions was the “Choose Your Own Adventure: Connecting Handshake with Salesforce” session led by Nick Lindberg from the University of Minnesota’s Carlson School of Management and Kristi Geist from the Center for Career Development at Princeton University.
