Since he was a child, Wade Wheatley’s life has been marked by three passions: learning, reading, and tending to plants. These interests helped Wade stay rooted as he navigated grade school and largely contributed to his decision to pursue an English Literature degree at Vanderbilt University.
Although his academic studies contained a heavy emphasis on reading and learning, his love for horticulture did not dwindle. In fact, during graduate school at New York University, Wade combined his love for reading and the study of plants to complete his thesis — an exposition on environmental ecosystems throughout literature. It wasn’t until after he completed this thesis, however, that he discovered he wanted to pursue horticulture not just as a hobby, but as a legitimate career.
